" width="321" height="336" />
PMPs speak a common language, preventing confusion and nasty surprises.

If you’re hiring a consultant, why would you choose someone that has a Project Management Professional credential? (Besides the fact that they have extra initials after their name that look kind of neat on an RFP?)

Project Management Professionals (or PMPs) have met verified experience requirements, agreed to a code of ethics, and passed a rigorous exam administered by the Project Management Institute (PMI.)

But the most useful thing about hiring PMPs happens when more than one of them are working on a team or Project Management Office (PMO.) They actually speak the same language! (And they know what all these acronyms mean!)

Although you might think that all businesspeople generally communicate pretty well, misunderstandings are all too common, and they waste time, money, and could potentially have more harmful effects.

When PMPs use terms like “work breakdown structure,” “on schedule,” “project phase,” or even “at risk” you know that each person has a very precise picture of what the other is talking about.

That can be very helpful in keeping your projects moving smoothly toward objectives, and more importantly, avoid nasty surprises.

Got this in my email today, don’t know who wrote the text or if there is any more to the story, but this is the full version of “Taps” (Il Silencio) played by Melissa Venema, age 13.

USAF C&A packages are held up at the DAA's office [...]

As of this week, many USAF C&A packages are held up at the DAA’s office because the system topologies provided by the customer do not meet DISA’s technical requirements. Because of this, the DAA staff has been having to go back to the PMOs to get new, acceptable topologies before processing and approving IATO/ATOs, resulting in a major backlog of packages.

The DISA requirements for Topologies are not all that new – but the AF-DAA has become more stringent in there application.

Suggest those of you with pending ATO/IATOs should contact your appropriate ‘AFNIC/EV C&A Customer Service Team’ to ensure you are in compliance.
